The KFRW held our 2022 Spring convention at the Hyatt Regency on Friday, March 11, in Wichita, KS. We had an outstanding meeting and A LOT of fun! The weekend started on Thursday evening with the KFRW Board meeting. The meeting consisted of the Executive Committee (all five elected officers and District Directors), the appointed officers, and the Standing and Special Committee Chairs. We discussed the 2022-23 KFRW Goals, the proposed budget, and the upcoming KFRW initiatives.
On Friday, we held the general membership meeting. The 2022-23 KFRW goals and budget for this year were approved. We also presented several membership awards. The following clubs were awarded prizes for the 2021 Membership increases: Saline County had a 121% increase, and their club was awarded $100. Dickinson County Republican Women had a 56% increase and earned a $50 gift card for their club. Republican Women of Pottawattamie County had a 55% increase in membership and made a $25 gift card.
Every two years, the Nannie Bingham Award is given to the district that had the highest increase in membership. KFRW Historian Rita Noll provided a brief history of the award’s namesake, Nannie Bingham. This year, the award was presented to the Third District, which grew 41% over 2020-21. Congratulations ladies!!
Two additional highlights were our speakers. The KFRW was honored to hold a forum with all three Republican Candidates for the Kansas Attorney General, Former Secretary of State Kris Kobach, Tony Mattivi, and State Senator Kellie Warren. Thank you to Tracy Ramey of Watch Kansas for recording the event for the KFRW. You can watch the forum by clicking here.
Our lunch speakers were Derek and Melanie Kreifels. Derek is the CEO of the State Financial Officers Foundation (SFOF), and Melanie is the CEO of Smart Woman Smart Money Magazine. They discussed their organizations and the importance of fiscal responsibility and ensuring our financial independence, especially from China. They briefly touched on the environmental, social, and governmental policies that organizations are putting in place and how those affect your investments. The presentation was OUTSTANDING and informative! The entire convention was a huge success! If you could not make this meeting, we hope you will join us for our Fall convention.
